No, your meals are already a part of your All-Inclusive Package Price.
Yes, they can be accommodated but it requires at least 1 week prior notice & there may be an extra fee depending on the need. Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Nut Free (other allergens too), & Vegetarians.
On your chosen arrival day, check-in for your lodging is available starting at 3:00PM at the Outfitters Gift Shop. You’ll need to vacate your lodging on the day of your departure by 11AM.
Check-in is between the hours of 3:00-6:00PM, you will need to make special arrangements for arrival outside of these hours.
In the event of lightning, the lake & activities will close 30 minutes after the storm has passed. As soon as the weather passes we’ll resume with the programmed activities. If/when it’s lightning, high winds, &/or Heavy Rain there are not options to continue activities. With the nature of our outdoors setting where we don’t have indoor facilities. So, just think of it as a forced time to take an Adventure Nap!
Yes, all minors must have a parent or guardian present with them during this program. Be sure to have prior parental or legal guardian consent on our ”Hold Harmless Agreement” Form before arrival. Adults must also fill in & sign the “Hold Harmless Agreement Form”.
Keep in mind that you’ve paid for your meals as part of the program. No refunds will be given for meals.
We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol on our property. Thanks for your compliance in this area!

All necessary costs will be upfront at the time of registration. All registrations will include all lodging, meals, & activities. Additional costs for the following activities (optional) including but not limited to Guided Tubing Trips, Horseback Trail Rides, UNIMOG Rides, Guided Fishing Excursions, Skeet Shooting, Riflery, & Crafts. Both the Outfitters Gift Shop & the Sidetrack Café are both retail stores that require various additional costs depending on what you purchase. Nightly S’mores packets can be purchased at the Outfitters for the nightly bonfire.

Our evening environment fully embraces the heart of summer! Whether it’s spent with an ice cream cone in hand under the lights at the Sidetrack Café serenated by the frogs at the lake, fireside roasting marshmallows, or crafting at the Depot; we’re confident you’ll find the right space for you & your family to share all the highlights of your day. Special events like competitions, themed dinners, & specialty activities may also be available.
You can choose to participate in as much or as little as you would like. Please feel the freedom to only participate in the activities & events that you need for your family.
There will be lots of organized activities that will be available to everyone.
We do have fishing equipment that can be checked out of the Outfitters Gift Shop. Both rod & reel and fly fishing equipment are available for the river or to go to nearby Watauga Lake or River. Unfortunately, we do not allow fishing in our lake. Keep in mind that all State Laws regarding fishing need to be obeyed & we’ll need to see a current fishing license with a trout stamp (river only) for anyone 13 years of age or older.
Unfortunately, we won’t be providing childcare.
We do recommend that you bring your own linens from home. Although, we understand the stress of leaving home & will provide your linens in the event of them being forgotten. In the event that we provide your linens there will be an upcharge of $14 per linen bundle. Pillows are not available.
In the case of a personal emergency, we ask that you call our office to let them know you are vacating your room. If this call is being made outside our office hours (M-F, 9-5PM) you can call our Doe River Gorge emergency extension (423.725.4010 ext.345) or leave a voicemail.
Yes. Doe River Gorge doesn’t own any cribs so you’ll definitely need to bring your own if you need one.
No. Each family will be housed in their own private room w/ on-suite bathrooms unless you choose to register as one family. Families can choose to be housed in the cabins together but will still have their own private room within it. The Small Cabins can be split into 2 rooms w/ 4 beds in one & 6 in the other. The Large Cabin can be split into 4 rooms in the same configuration.
Yes! From lights-out to morning rise-n-shine. Usually 10PM-7AM.
Absolutely! In the registration process let Donna know & for $35 a night you can book one of our tent sites or non-hookup RV sites which both have access to a fully equipped bathhouse. The tent sites are located right on the river & are less than .2 miles from the unloading/loading area which you’ll have to walk/cart your supplies in from.
Absolutely! In the registration process with Donna you can choose a $50 a night RV site which have full hookup service or for $35 you can use one of our no hookup sites.
ENO’s are great to bring & hang outside. If you choose to sleep there then Sweet Dreams!
We do love dogs but ask that you please leave them at home. Alligators & other pets too please!
Unfortunately, no. Our insurance does not allow participants to do that.
We have our Outfitters Gift Shop & a Sidetrack Café where you can purchase all kinds of fun Doe River Gorge products & goodies like hats, t-shirts, candy, drinks, ice cream, S’mores Kits, Crafts, & Hawaiian Ice.
If you have a medical emergency please dial 911. At activities our staff have limited Medical Supplies available for your convenience. Additionally, the majority of our staff are trained in First Aid & CPR. A Walk-in Clinic is located within 2 miles & a hospital is within 10 miles.
We’ll do everything that we can to accommodate any special needs, although our facility & activities do not have ramps or paths for wheelchairs.

Due to the brief amount of time between reservations and the start of your Family Camp Getaway experience, payment in full is required at the time of registration. Credit or debit cards can be accepted over the phone, or you may mail in a check. Your reservation fee is non-refundable; exceptions to this will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with rescheduling and transferring your fee to a different date or event being the only alternative offered by DRG.
Dinner on your night of arrival through lunch on your day of departure. (Even though you need to be checked out of your room or camp site at 11:00am, as a bonus to your family, we are giving you lunch on your day of departure!)
Tips would be a great encouragement for the Summer Staff Students. We're proud of them and their commitment to serve! Some are volunteering and some raise financial support for summer ministry.
