Our mission is to inspire and equip people to be passionate followers of Christ.
Why are so many students walking away from their faith?
Studies show that 66% of Christians students abandon their faith before graduating college. This generation faces a storm of indoctrination and peer pressure throughout most college experiences. They rarely have a firm Biblical foundation to withstand the arguments of evolution, humanism and worldly culture.
The church has done a poor job of equipping students to defend their faith. They are taught the Bible “stories” and to believe because “Jesus is good,” but rarely is a young person taught the scientific evidence that confirms the truth of the Bible. Our children need to be equipped with the truth of God’s word and the evidence that supports it. Biblical faith is not a blind faith…evidence is everywhere. In order to teach the next generation how to defend their faith, we must, ourselves, know the truth. Fortunately, there are many resources for learning about science and the Bible. This is an exciting time to be a Bible-believing Christian!
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.
1 Peter 3:15
Michael Maughon
Michael is a wildlife educator at Doe River Gorge. He and his wife, Sara, run Genesis Animal Sanctuary. With over 60 animals entrusted to their care, their mission is to bring glory to God and to make Him known through His creation. They utilize animals to educate people about evidence that shows the God of the Bible as the intelligent designer of the heavens and the earth. Through animal rescue, rehabilitation, and training, they steward the creatures God has given them and share the wonders of creation and the good news of Jesus Christ. Michael and his wife Sara have been married for 4 years and have a son, Spires, who is a year old. Michael performed in the Le Rêve show in Las Vegas before coming on staff at Doe River Gorge and establishing the Outdoor Education program.
